City of Richmond (CoR) Burkeville Utility Upgrade Project 2026: Final Paving Works

July 29th, 2026

Update from Roger Keating (CoR)

(Week of July 27-31, 2026)

Burkeville Utility Upgrade Project 2026: Final Paving Works

Current

  1. Lancaster Crescent - from Hudson south to dead end

    1. Currently paving final paving of Lancaster Crescent including driveways and walkways,

    2. Paving should be completed this week weather permitting [July 31].

    3. Followed by shouldering work and landscaping in the next few weeks.

One driveway may require additional work due to drainage concerns.

Next

  1. Catalina Crescent - From Handley North to Cul de sac near Miller Road

    1. Letters were delivered Tuesday July 28, 2026 to notify homeowners along the area that will be paved.(letter attached below)

    2. Driveways and walkways will be paved

    3. Front boulevards will not be paved - for parking etc.

***Note: The speed humps will be re-instated along Catalina in the same locations as they were before.

Temporary parking will be allowed on Airport Road - we have asked Bylaws to refrain from issuing tickets on Airport, Catalina or Lancaster for the remainder of the summer.

We are currently still working at a solution with Fortis to complete the relocation of the Fortis gas lines that are currently in conflict with our new storm sewer system. Once the gas lines are relocated and the City replaces the bypass sections of storm sewer we can then complete the final paving in those areas.

***IMPORTANT: When driving on freshly paved asphalt do not turn he steering wheel too harshly  slow easy turns or try to turn off of the new pavement as it will leave marks on the pavement. Also avoid driving on the fresh tack coat (sticky oil) placed on the existing asphalt to adhere the new asphalt and if you have driven over it do not drive into a driveway.
