Bill's service extended beyond SICA to include his work on the Board of Governors at Regent College, where he served as chair of their finance committee. He was remembered by Regent College President Jeff Greenman as "a remarkable person" whose "patient, courageous and faith-filled battle with cancer was an amazing witness to his hope and joy in Christ."
Those who knew Bill remember a man of exceptional character - intelligent, generous and possessed of a quiet humour that brightened every room he entered. He was a devoted husband to Hayley and loving father to daughters Liah and Rebecca. A proud resident of Burkeville in Richmond, BC, Bill built meaningful connections throughout our community through his genuine care for others and his willingness to serve wherever needed.
Bill's legacy with SICA is one of faithful stewardship, generous service and quiet leadership. His contributions helped strengthen our organization and our community and his example of grace under adversity will continue to inspire us.
We are profoundly grateful for Bill's kind and generous efforts, his time and his dedication to our community. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and working alongside him.
Our best wishes, thoughts and prayers are with Hayley, Liah, Rebecca and all of Bill's family, friends and neighbours during this difficult time.

Remembering Bill Atkinson (1982 - 2025)
A Tribute from the Sea Island Community Association
It is with heavy hearts that the Sea Island Community Association (SICA) announces the passing of our esteemed Board Director and Treasurer, William "Bill" Atkinson, who passed away peacefully on May 16, 2025, after courageously battling cancer for five years. He was 42 years old.
Bill joined the SICA Board of Directors in 2015 and served as our dedicated Treasurer from 2017 until 2024. Throughout his tenure, he was far more than a financial steward - he was a generous volunteer who gave freely of his time and expertise to support all of our community events and initiatives.
As a Chartered Professional Accountant, Bill not only provided exceptional financial oversight for our organization but also generously waived his professional fees while reviewing our books and helping us complete our year-end processes. His commitment to our community remained unwavering even as he faced his health challenges and in 2024, we granted him an indefinite leave of absence with hopes that he would overcome his illness and return to his regular duties.
