Lived on Sea Island: Since May of 2020
Board Member since: 2021
What inspired you to join the SICA Board?
The Sea Island Community’s enormous potential for development in all areas, (e.g. historical, cultural, educational, environmental, artistic, athletic, etc.) not just commercial!
What would you personally like to work on with SICA?
I would like to explore, develop and harness our amazing potential in ALL areas here on Sea Island!
What do you think SICA should be working on and be trying to accomplish as a group?
SO many things! First and foremost, I’d like us to develop a Strategic (mid-long-term… including Emergency) Plan to work out what WE want, so we can then align our plans with all of other big neighbours’ plans!
A bit more about Tamás:
I'm currently working in Project Management at TRIUMF. Previously, I worked in various fields (including as a freelancer) as an Educator (at UBC, BCIT, CapU, VFS, etc.), Producer and Designer in a range of fields. I also taught User Interface/User Experience Design at BCIT for 16 years.
I’m also an avid Masters runner and commuting cyclist.
I have an eyeless, mostly toothless, diabetic dog weighing about 12lbs …who is also now a Burkeville Councillor! ;)

___
Lived on Sea Island for: 9 years
Board Member for: 2 years
What inspired you to join the SICA Board?
I wanted to engage with community activities and get to know my neighbours.
What would you personally like to work on with SICA?
Develop a clear method of working with the various jurisdictions in and around Burkeville. We have a unique area with many different jurisdictional considerations, and it makes decision-making and progress toward goals challenging.
What do you think SICA should be working on and be trying to accomplish as a group?
Jurisdictional issues
A bit more about Lori:
I enjoy many outdoor activities year-round. In part, it was the beautiful green spaces and mature landscaping that drew me to our community.

Brandon Mules

___
Lived on Sea Island:
20 years, i.e. my entire life
Board Member since:
November 2022.
What inspired you to join the SICA Board?
My many experiences volunteering for SICA and attending their events throughout my childhood, and more broadly, seeing others do good by getting involved in their communities, inspired me to give back to my own.
What would you personally like to work on with SICA?
My personal interests are in SICA's continuing efforts to increase community engagement by means of media/partnerships/events, and working to incorporate sustainability into our operations.
What do you think SICA should be working on and be trying to accomplish as a group?
SICA should aim to identify community priorities based on feedback from members, ensuring the inclusion of new residents & previously uninvolved parties, while seeking new sources of funding to make future initiatives possible.
A bit more about Brandon:
I'm currently studying commerce at UBC, but when not on campus I'm often found walking one of Sea Island's many scenic routes along with my German Shepherd, Loki.

___
Lived on Sea Island:
19 years; since June 2005
Board Member since:
I have been on the board twice before (I think), non-contiguous terms. Approximately 18 years ago, and about 10 or 11 years ago. I haven't kept a record.
What inspired you to join the SICA Board?
This time I was strong-armed into it by Hannah and Tamás! ;)
What would you personally like to work on with SICA?
I would like to work on the Sea Island Times.
What do you think SICA should be working on and be trying to accomplish as a group?
Building relationships between members of the community; making this a cute little village where everyone knows everyone else; bringing relationships back into our world, stemming the tide of alienation in our modern world.
